Hi Reader
I was in a funk last week. I felt completely off.
That is highly unusual for me.
I felt burnt out and so tired of the repetitive nature of housework. Preparing meals. Every day. Multiple times per day. Cleaning. Putting the laundry away.
It never ends. It always comes back. π΅βπ«
β
Do you ever feel this way Reader?
β
And between my youngest who decided to skip naps and my oldest who complained about leftovers, I was so grumpy.
Are my shifting hormones the reason why I was so irritable? β
I recently got blood work done and everything looks stellar but my progesterone that is clearly packing up her bags and on the way out. π§³
I was tired and annoyed.
Not my favorite version of myself friend.
β
For 2 days I also had 0 appetite.
I started to get concerned because I am usually hungry.
Going through a mini burnout.
Welcome to being a mom in her mid-40s,... Working, taking care of kids, taking care of the home and putting food on the table for everyone, 3 times per day, 7 days per week, without a break,...
The packed schedule.
Constantly shifting from task to task.
A to-do list with no end.
This makes my post-doc years in the lab look like a walk in the park!
Now here's what I have to confess,...
With the stress, the fatigue and irritability, I was thinking about eating all the chocolate muffins and chips I could get my hands on.
I wanted to lay on my couch all week.
I wanted to escape and definitely doom scrolled on youtube.
And of course that only made things worse. π
But here is what kept me from eating my stress, seeking comfort in food and skipping my workouts because I felt so low energy:
I stuck to the plan.
The meal plan.
The workout plan.
And because I am not eating for the scale or working out to lose weight but because this is who I am,
I did not negotiate with myself.
I did not give myself an out.
And I did not have all the chocolate muffins and chips I really wanted to eat.
We did go for burger and fries (grass-fed burger and fries made in beef tallow) for fun on Friday. We do that as a family about once a month and all really enjoy our meal together.
But because I step on my scale every day, I saw my visceral fat jump the next day.
βSo when hubby said "You wanna do pizza tonight?", I said no.
βI did not want to cook another meal,... I really did not.
But I did anyways. We had steak and salad.
Everything in me wanted all the carbs after the week I had.
Everything in me wanted to take a chance to not be in the kitchen.
β
βBut seeing my numbers with my own eyes helped me make a healthier food choice.
Why am I sharing all of this with you Reader?
That's because I want you to see, that what keeps me on track:β
- is not that I have the personality to be consistent (I wasn't born this way)
- is not because I follow a strict plan (I went for burger and fries)
- is not because I have a strong willpower
The clues for what keeps me on track are in this story:β
- This is who I am
- I saw my visceral fat number
- I had a plan
- I use the right tools
β
βAnd I am sharing ALL OF THIS in my live FREE workshop on September 17th.
I am putting all the tools I have in my tool belt to be consistent into the Consistent Healthy Eating workshop, for you to grab and start using them.
So the next time you feel stressed out, burnt out,
